Sunday, February 28, 2010 at 10:50AM Congrats to Tu-Anh and the Fashion Fix team for their event in support of the Capital Breast Cancer Center. The Photoria team went as the video/photo team for the event but the hard work and care for this purpose was definitely seen in this event.
The whole purpose of this event was to support the Capital Breast Care Center (http://www.capitalbreastcare.org). They do AMAZING work by provide culturally appropriate breast cancer screening services and promote health and wellness to women in the Washington, DC area regardless of their ability to pay. Yes, there were models. Yes, there were free prizes and gifts. Yes, there were radio/tv personalities there. And yes, even the first lady of Washington D.C. was there, Michelle Fenty, wife of the mayor of D.C. But none of that compared to the women who benefited from the generous donations raised through this event ($3,000+) and is now able to get screenings for breast cancer. I have had multiple members of my family who has been diagnosed for breast cancer as well so I was happy to see such young individuals and organizations to help such a worthy cause. It's not about fancy clothes, words or events because when it comes down to it, it's about helping those in need.
I was honored to meet some great people and hear them speak about this issue. Congrats again to all the people involved and you've made this a better place through your efforts.
